Rep inspects completed riverfront project

KAPIT: Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat today inspected the newly completed community development project, Kapit River Front Phase II.

The project was implemented by Kapit District Council through an allocation under the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP).

Accompanying Jamit during the visit were the Walikota of the council Lating Minggang, council’s secretary Jabang Juntan, assistant secretary Kelimbik Sibat, the council’s engineer Mohd Idris and senior assistant environmental officer Favian Masing Lintang.

The construction work on the proposed development of Kapit River Front Phase II project, located side by side of the newly completed Kapit Town Square project, commenced on February 13, 2019. The consultant for the proposed development of Kapit River Front Phase II project is BC Tay Architect.

According to Jamit, the Kapit River Front Phase II project that costs RM5 million has been physically completed with the contractors doing the finishing touch prior to handing over the project to the council. The river front project will be ready for public use by early next year.

Jamit was happy to note that the council had successfully implemented all its major development projects under the 11MP and rural transformation projects. The other major development projects of the council that have been completed include Kapit Town Square, the Kapit multi-storey car park and Belaga River Front Phase I as well as Phase II.  Projects that are in the various stages of construction include Song River Front Phase II and Phase III, plus the proposed re-development and beautification of Lily Pond at Kapit town.

“With the completion of all those development projects later on will help to transform the urban landscape of Kapit,” stressed Jamit.

Earlier, he also inspected another community development project of the council, namely the multi-storey car park which is also physically completed. 

The five-storey car-park worth over RM10.6 million was a project under 11MP that was awarded to Aruh Bumi Sdn Bhd. The construction work began in March 2018. Among the facilities available there include 146 car parking lots, lifts, IT virtual centre and a food court with 12 units of hawker centres at the top floor.
