SIMANGGANG:  One unit of teacher’s quarters that comes with a parking lot at a local primary school SK St Lawrence, Sabu here, was completed on Jan 7.

Built under the rural transformation programme (RTP) project under the planning of Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, the construction cost a total of RM150,000.

Both facilities under the project are meant to enhance the comfort of the concerned teacher and family staying in the school compound. The school applied for the RTP allocation through the local rep from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and was approved.

“The state government is very concerned about the development of human capital in order to produce competent leaders in the future for the continuity of Sarawak state development excellence that has been carefully planned.

“This project proves that the government supports human capital development,” said Harden who is also Community Well Being Assistant Minister during his site visit on Friday (Jan 29).

Meanwhile, Harden also visited the site of the RTP project of Taman Harmoni Community Hall upgrading worth RM200,000.

Currently, the work status of the project — undertaken by Sri Aman District Council (MDSA) as the implementing agency — is nearing completion.

During the visit, the assistant minister was briefed by the contractor that the final stage work was in full swing.

The upgraded community hall will be used to provide facilities to residents around Taman Harmoni as a place for them to carry out activities.

Harden advised everyone to jointly take care of the property so that the hall would provide convenience for all in the long run.

“Fully utilise the facilities wisely,” he further advised.
