SIMANGGANG: Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi handed over financial assistance to the families of nine victims of the Triso tragedy.

He appeared in-person to meet the victims’ families to convey his deepest condolences and rendered the assistance to lighten their burden in terms of funeral expenses.

“I came rushing from Kuching to Sri Aman today with my wife after hearing the tragic news. Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat also rushed from Sibu to join me in visiting the family.

“We arrived at the Sri Aman Hospital mortuary and met the relatives of the victims especially Munah Agon who lost two daughters and seven grandchildren in the incident.

“Having met with them, I also learnt that they have two different funerals — one for the Muslim victims whereby they will be buried at the Sri Aman cemetery here while the other funeral is for the Chinese victims who will be buried in Sibu,” he told reporters at the hospital on Saturday (Jan 2).
