LUNDU: The Sarawak government will ensure that there is no monopoly on the supply of fertilizer and pesticide for the agriculture sector.

According to Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) in a report, Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang said this was aimed at providing a large profit margin to smallholders in the state.

“We are aware of the increase in the price of fertilizer and pesticide, which increases when the price of palm oil increases but does not decrease according to the current price of palm oil.”

He hoped that cooperation between the people’s representatives through the formation of a unity government, especially at the parliamentary level, would continue for the good of the people.

He said this during the Monitoring Programme of National Initiatives for Sustainable and Climate Smart Oil Palm Smallholders (NI-SCOPS) at Kampung Stungkor Baru here on Friday (Dec 2).
