IGAN: A request has been submitted to Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas for additional ferry services here to curb congestion especially during the festive season.

Jemoreng assemblyman Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya said this when visiting the Batang Igan Ferry Base yesterday.

“We have applied for an additional three ferries to operate simultaneously from early morning until 1am.

“We ask that this service be extended until a week after Hari Raya to ensure that the people who return to the village are not stuck in the congestion,” he said.

Furthermore, Juanda informed that the Public Works Department (PWD) has carried out an inspection, assuring that any damage will be repaired immediately to improve the ferry service.

“I advise that ferry users be always careful and follow the instructions of the ferry operator to ensure the safety of everyone,” he added.

On the same day, he also visited Kampung Igan to review several development projects that involve Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects.
