KUCHING: Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong urged Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin to repair the dilapidated police headquarters in Belaga as soon as possible.
A building block at the Belaga district police headquarters was engulfed in flames on Monday (Dec 14).
“I urge the Home Affairs minister to go on the ground immediately to address this problem,” he said in the Parliament today (Dec 14).
“The Belaga district police headquarters is in a dilapidated condition and needs urgent repairs. I have brought up this matter since 2018.
“Today (Dec 14), for the Dewan’s information, a building at the headquarters is engulfed in flames as we speak. I hope there are no fatalities,” he said. The building at the headquarters was razed by fire around 1pm. Firemen from the Bintulu fire station were despatched to the scene. They took four hours to arrive in Belaga.
