MIRI: A 31-year-old local man who was just released from police lock-up was caught stealing again.

The suspect was out from police custody for just a week but on Friday evening (Oct 23) he was arrested and detained again for motorcycle theft.

He was picked up at a five-foot way of a building in Piasau, at Jalan Palmar Edar around 5.15pm.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect has eight criminal records related to house burglaries, vehicle theft and drug abuse.

During the arrest, police also discovered and seized a motorcycle (Yamaha 135LC) which was reported stolen early that day by its owner.

The owner of the motorcycle has just bought the motorcycle for five months prior to the incident. Its value is estimated to be around RM10,000.

The motorcycle was reported missing from the parking lot nearby a shoplot building at Jalan Firus , Pujut 6 around 5.30am on the same day.

Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah has confirmed the arrest.

The case is being investigated under Section 379A for motor vehicle theft.
