KUCHING: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah refused to answer a question from DAP’s Violet Yong in the just-concluded State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting because she refused to withdraw her allegation against him.

This was disclosed by Uggah’s press officer Edward S Subeng in response to Yong’s statement yesterday.

According to Subeng, Yong, who is Pending assemblywoman, had interjected while Uggah was delivering his winding-up speech.

At that material time, she accused Uggah of having gone for makan angin (holidaying) during an overseas trip.

Uggah told Yong that he would not respond to her question unless she withdrew her allegation against him.

DUN Speaker Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar had agreed with Uggah and urged Yong to withdraw her allegation.

Yong refused to withdraw her allegation, hence Uggah declined to answer her question, Subeng said.
