SARIKEI: Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii has secured an allocation amounting to RM2.148mil for the Repok constituency through the Sarikei Divisional Irrigation and Drainage Department (DID).

In a statement on Wednesday (Sept 27), the Repok assemblyman said the funding will be channelled towards the enhancement of 16 river and ditch projects, with the primary goal of ensuring smooth water drainage and mitigating flooding issues.

“Blocked ditches and drainage will result in overflowing river water, especially during rainy season, which causes frequent floods in the area,” he stressed.

Huang, who also serves as the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change, took prompt action to request allocation from the federal government for ditch and river cleaning projects following complaints from public.
