SARIKEI: Rural development is crucial to improving the agricultural economy.

Therefore, Repok assemblyman Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii said that perfect roads would facilitate farmers’ travel and sale of agriculture products.

Since serving as Repok assemblyman for over four years, Huang has been working to improve infrastructure, and roads, to boost the standard of living of the people.

Huang, who is also Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Sarikei chairman, has upgraded the roads in Merudu and Meruton.

“I also come from a poor family and I understand the needs of the people. Therefore, I will try to help to improve rural roads for the benefit of the people here,” he told New Sarawak Tribune yesterday.

Meanwhile, Penghulu Yeu Chii Tung, on behalf of the local people here, thanked Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg for approving allocation for Sarikei’s development, including upgrading urban and rural roads, longhouses and basic amenities.

He also thanked Huang for always working to improve infrastructure and roads here.
