MIRI: A group of people, who call themselves “The Dayak Activists”, has lodged a police report yesterday morning against a Facebook user who allegedly insulted the Dayaks on social media.

The group of five, led by Jeffry Unggat, 47, arrived at the Miri Central Police Station (CPS) at 10.20am.

Jeffry said the report was lodged against Facebook user, Abdul Rahman Jelas, for his insulting post towards the Dayaks.

He added that the post was shared in their WhatsApp group on Wednesday afternoon.

“A similar report would be lodged with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

“We hope the relevant authorities will take stern actions against this person for his irresponsible posting,” he said.

According to Jeffry, Abdul Rahman had written “Perayaan Dayak itu tidak sesuai untuk Borneo kerana ia macam tidak bertamadun, ‘low class’” which meant “The Dayak celebration is not appropriate for Borneo as it is uncivilised and low class” on his Facebook account.
