KUCHING: The Sessions Court set April 22 to hear a social report on an army private who pleaded guilty to robbing a woman of RM600 in front of a pharmacy in March.

The 20-year-old accused pleaded guilty to the charge read out by an interpreter before Judge Afidah Abdul Rahman.

He accused him of robbing a 22-year-old woman of RM600 in a Produa Axia in front of a pharmacy at 7th Mile about 4.30pm on March 6.

The charge was framed under Section 392 of the Penal Code and read together with Section 397 of the same code.

The man could face up to 14 years in prison and whipping.

During the mention of the case, Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohamad Aiman ​​Mutallib Mohamad Shariff did not offer any bail to the unrepresented accused.

The prosecution stated that no bail was offered to prevent the accused repeating the offence or fleeing.

However, the court allowed the accused to be released on RM5,000 cash bail with one local surety.
