Reps observe moment of silence for deceased leaders

KUCHING: State assemblyperson observed a one-minute silence during the second day of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Sitting as to to remember the passing of past leaders in Sarawak who passed away this year and last year.

DUN Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar has called upon the respective elected representatives at the DUN Chambers to observe the one-minute silence before the tabling of the government Bills today.

“I feel very sad on their passing, I request the Dewan to observe a one-minute silence, and pray according to our respective beliefs,” he said.

He extended his condolences to the family of the late former former Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Simon Dembab Maha who passed away on Jan 22, 2022; and Head of State Tun Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng who passed away Jan 28, 2022.

Asfia further conveyed his condolences to the family of the late former Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing who passed away on Oct 31, 2021; and former Jemoreng assemblyman (2006-2016) Abu Seman Jahwie who passed away on Sept 17, 2021.
