THERE was a total of 64,789 hectares of the Natives Customary Land (NCR) involving 2,344 participants in Tamin constituency implemented through joint venture over the years with private investors.
Such initiative was introduced by the state government for NCR lands to be developed especially for oil palm industry. Therefore, Ir Christopher Gira Sambang (GPS-Tamin) requested the government to issue individual land title to the NCR landowners under Section 18 of the Land Code.
“This is an assurance to the heirs and would avoid land dispute when the joint venture agreement expires or matures.
“I request to the state government to allocate budget for perimeter survey of NCR land in Sarawak. And hereby, I would like to request full completion suvery on NCR land in my constituency under section 6 and section 18 soonest,” Gira in the august House.
Further in his debate Gira also pleadged his support to the state government for allocating RM1 billion to upgrade ICT infrastructure throughout the state, in line with government policy for digital economy and hoped that his constituency could benefit from this budget.
On education, he appealed for the state government to repair dilapidated schools in Tamin and equipped them with good facilities such as electricity supply from grid line to replace the electricity supply from gen set, treated water supply, internet access and so on.
“There is a need for relocation of schools situated at flood prone areas to be moved to the high ground,” he pointed out.
