SIBU: Residents in several areas in Daro constituency will receive a 24-hour electricity supply by the end of this year.

According to Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahman, the areas include settlements in the districts of Sibu, Meradong, Matu and Daro.

He said that four packages of the rural electrification scheme (RES) projects within the constituency would be completed by the end of this year.

Safiee speaks to reporters.

“These include the Batang Lassa 2 RES project, the Batang Lassa 1 RES project, the Sungai Passin RES project, and the Serban RES project.

“Overall, only two of these four packages in the Matu district are still in progress, and based on the current developments, all field issues have been resolved,” he said this when met by reporters at the pre Gawai celebration cum RES launching ceremony at the longhouse here today (May 25).

The current project under construction is the Batang Lassa 1 RES, with a total cost of RM7.7 million, still at 25 per cent completion.
