KUCHING: Rescuers on Sunday (Mar 28) recovered the body of a 27-year-old man who allegedly jumped from Satok Bridge into the Sarawak River last Friday.

Sarawak Fire Department director Khirudin Drahman revealed that the search teams found the victim’s body around 8.40am, about 300 metres from where he jumped.

The deceased, identified as Mohammad Amirul Syahlan Affendi from Kampung Gersik, was handed over to the police for further action.

According to witnesses, the victim is said to have stopped his Proton Wira car on the bridge, got out from the car, climbed over the bridge’s fence and jumped into the river.

The victim was swept away by the water current before apparently drowning.
