MUKAH: The body of a child who drowned while bathing in a river near Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Bukit Inkerbai, Selangau was recovered by rescuers on Thursday (June 17).

Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias ​​said the body of Muhammad Danish Muhammad Zamrie, 8, was found by villagers around 8am about one kilometer from where he was last seen.

He said the victim’s parents had identified and confirmed that the body was their missing child.

“The victim’s body was found fully intact but there were traces of animal bites on the left and right arms,” ​​he said in a statement on Thursday.

Muhamad Rizal added that the body was sent to Mukah Hospital for autopsy after it was retrieved by rescuers.

It was reported that the child was bathing in the river before being seen drowning by his friend on Tuesday morning.

The friend then rushed to ask for help from the school.

A search and rescue (SAR) operations comprising personnel from Selangau and Sibu Fire and Rescue stations, police and the Civil Defense Force was immediately launched to look for the missing boy.
