BAU: A woman, who was injured while hiking to Bung Jagoi near here yesterday, was rescued by the state Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).

According to the department’s operations centre spokesperson, they were informed of the incident at around 10.28am by the Civil Defence Force (APM).

“The 37-year-old woman was conscious when the team arrived at the scene, but she was unable to walk or stand due to injuries to her right ankle.

“The victim was brought down to the foothill near Kampung Plaman Boawae using the ‘pick a back’ and ‘two rescuers assist’ techniques by the rescuers,” he said.

However, due to bad weather conditions, the rescuers had trouble getting the victim down.

“The victim was transported using a four-wheel-drive vehicle through a 1-kilometre trail, which is only accessible by off-road vehicles,” the spokesperson added.

Paramedics on the scene later treated the victim at a nearby parking lot before sending her to Bau Hospital for further treatment.
