KABONG: Since its elevation into a full district in 2015, Kabong has witnessed a better development landscape with various projects being actively implemented.

Many residents have attributed the latest developments in the constituency to its assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir, who was elected in the 2016 state election.

Penghulu Kamalludin Rambli.

Kampung Sessang Penghulu Kamalludin Rambli said the demarcation of Kabong in 2015 had changed the political landscape which saw a local given the mandate as the constituency’s assemblyman in the 11th State Election.

He said that since then, Mohd Chee has transformed the constituency significantly, adding, “His selection by the then Chief Minister Pehin Sri Adenan Satem was the right decision ending decades when residents in Kabong were craving for development.”

He pointed out that the services of Mohd Chee in the area over the past four years were highly effective and the area witnessed improvements in terms of infrastructure development as well as education, socio-cultural economy and tourism.

He explained that the people in Kampung Emplam had suffered hardships and grievances while waiting for the road to be upgraded. It was when Mohd Chee took over as the people’s representative that immediate action was taken to resolve the issue.

“We, the residents of Kampung Emplam, are very grateful to him for this effort. He is a representative of the people who always comes forward and often approaches the people. Most importantly, when a problem arises, he will try to solve it immediately,” he said.

Bujang said that the completion of the main road also had a good economic impact on the residents of Kampung Emplam, and he believed that there was still a lot of development being planned for the area.

“My hope is that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state government will remain and given the mandate by the people of Sarawak in the next election. We, the residents of Kampung Emplam, hope that Mohd Chee will continue to lead and remain as the people’s representative in Kabong,” he added.

Iman Joni.

Meanwhile, SMK Kabong principal Iman Joni said that Mohd Chee’s great contribution was in ensuring that the school’s operation was changed to one session after almost 12 years of being in two sessions.
