Residents to benefit from new bridge

Riot officiates at the ground-breaking ceremony of the bridge project.

KUCHING: The RM1.5 million bridge across Sungai Kedup to Kampung Mentu Tapu in Serian will be a boon to the local dwellers.

Serian MP Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem said this will better facilitate the needs of the residents in terms of transportation

“I would like to thank the state government for this project which, when completed within 12 months from now to Aug 6 next year, will certainly facilitate transportation,” he said in a Facebook post on Friday.

Earlier, Riot officiated at the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction project in his constituency. Accompanying him was Kedup assemblyman Martin Ben.

The Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to East Asia also said he was confident that the project will be completed according to the set schedule.

“This is because the implementation agency for it — Serian Public Works Department is equipped with the needed experience and expertise to be able to achieve this,” he said.

Present during the ground-breaking ceremony were Tebedu District officer Joseph Liaw, JKR Serian Engineer Oliver Nyabong Jimmy and a representative of the Serian Resident Office.

Joining them were community leaders and JKR Serian officers.
