KUCHING: It was an honourable act when GPS decided to support Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the prime minister.

“What GPS is doing is for the sake of Malaysia,” said a senior lawyer Shankar Ram Asnani.

“It was a good decision to support Tun M since he is a very influential senior politician”.

While pointing out that GPS should not join with any fractious political party, he said GPS’ support to the top leader was vital for the whole nation.

“It is important because it ensures that the country can progress economically. That is the whole purpose that people fail to understand,” he told New Sarawak Tribune when contacted yesterday.

He said it was important for GPS to support the leader who has a majority support.

“If the country’s leaders continue to quarrel there would be no end to the power struggle and the whole country will face economic problems,” he said.

“The fact that PKR now is fragmented has given rise to a lot of issues,” he said.
