MIRI: Sarawakians can rest assured that the unity government is sincere in restoring the state’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

The assurance came from federal Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Hasbi Habibollah who said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was committed to achieving the MA63 goals.

The Vibes reported Hasbi as saying at his Chinese New Year open house in Limbang that the unity government was taking serious steps in fulfilling the MA63.

“The unity government in Putrajaya is already in the process of making sure that the privileges of Sarawak, as contained in MA63, are fully restored to the state.

“Anwar has shown genuine intention by appointing Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusuf to be in charge of the committee handling the matter.

“It is just a matter of time before our rights are fully restored,” the The Vibes quoted Hasbi.

He also added that the Sarawakians should support the efforts of the unity government.

The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) supreme council member pointed out that efforts to grant Sarawak autonomy and rights over health and education were currently in progress.

“These are among the key positive strides that Anwar has embarked upon in restoring Sarawak’s rights.

“We, the rakyat, must give our full support to realise these goals.”

Hasbi said Sarawakians could expect to see faster socioeconomic progress under the unity government.
