KUCHING: Works to resurface the road at Jalan Tun Razak-Jalan Foochow 1 intersection here are expected to be completed by the end of this month.

“We hope that by the end of this month, the road works will be done and motorists will have a smooth road to travel on,” said Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng.

He told reporters this after being briefed by Sarawak Public Work Department (JKR) officials on the road works.

He said that although the weather was interfering somewhat with the road works, JKR Sarawak was working very hard to complete the project.

He assured that all safety measures had been taken and road signs put up, but urged the public to be alert and cautious when travelling along the road at night.

Wee noted that the road was often publicised, with much finger-pointing by some quarters.

“Pointing fingers at each other will not be able to give results. We can only get results by seeing how we can help each other and how we are going to rectify the situation properly, to ensure the work runs smoothly and can be completed on time,” he stressed.

As such, he hoped that such finger-pointing would cease and unnecessary sentiments not created by certain quarters.

“This project is the result of the council, JKR, and the contractor working hand in hand to conduct proper rectification works,” he said.
