JULAU: In a tragic incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, a retired teacher named Arim Badok, aged 70, has gone missing while installing nets in the Sungai Kanowit river, Nanga Meluan. According to reports, the incident occurred on Tuesday, March 28, when Arim Badok was seen clinging to a bucket about 30 meters away from the river bank before he disappeared.

Arim Badok’s friend, who was present at the scene, attempted to rescue him but unfortunately failed in his attempt. The incident was immediately reported to the authorities, prompting a massive search and rescue operation involving the Julau police, Bintangor firemen, and Civil Defence Force (APM) Sarikei.

Despite their best efforts, however, the search teams have been unable to locate Arim Badok. A search of an 8km area downstream has been conducted, but so far, there has been no success in finding the missing retiree.

The authorities have vowed to continue the search operation until Arim Badok is located, and the community remains hopeful that he will be found soon.
