SRI AMAN: Community Wellbeing Assistant Minister Datuk Francis Harden Hollis presented RM5,000 to the Security and Development Committee of Rh Maria Lutang under the Minor Rural Project (MRP) for year 2020. He said the state government is committed to developing infrastructure in rural areas. “This is proven with the construction of bridges, access roads, water and electricity supply, etc.”

Last Saturday’s ‘Intergenerasi Komuniti Prihatin 2019’ programme held at Rh Maria Lutang here served as a platform to change the public’s perception about the departments and institutions within the state’s Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Ministry.

The programme also aimed to provide opportunities for residents of senior care institutions, the disabled, children and homeless to interact with the community from institutions comprising of all age groups. Such a programme also provided an opportunity for the community to obtain information about the assistance provided and the requirements from the Social Welfare Department.

Other activities were also held such as health screening services by the District Health Office, lectures on early dental care (Division Dental Clinic), cybercrime talks (PDRM IPD Sri Aman), fire prevention and firefighting demonstrations (Fire and Rescue Department of Sri Aman) as well as competitions and lucky draws.

About 300 people attended the event organised by the Community Welfare Office (PKMB) Sri Aman Division in collaboration with the ‘Desa Bina Diri Kuching’ under the leadership of organising chairwoman PKMB Sri Aman officer Vivian Engkiong. Also present were Desa Bina Diri principal Tiong Kunyok, Penghulu Bailey Gamang, Tuai Rumah Maria Lutang and Sri Aman District Council deputy chairman Cr Andar Suntai.
