Ride hailing driver detained for theft

The suspect is being escorted to Miri central police station (CPS) for questioning.

MIRI: Police have detained a ride hailing driver for allegedly stealing a handphone and cash from a woman at Taman Tunku here on November 5.

The suspect, aged 36, was detained by a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team at a roadside in Desa Pujut 1F today.

Also seized were a Perodua Viva car and a handphone.

Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah who confirmed the arrest, said the suspect had approached the 26-year-old victim as she was about to close the shop around 7.40pm and stole RM210 cash and a handphone from her.
