KUCHING: The decision to extend the existing conditional movement control order (CMCO) was lauded by Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni.
The Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) coordinator for coastal Kuching, Samarahan and Lundu said this is important to ensure Covid-19 can be dealt with effectively within the extended period.
“The public, especially the community, traders and government agencies should cooperate by complying with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the government.
“The village safety and development committee (JKKK) at the village and longhouse level must be firm by increasing community surveillance and enforcement,” he said on Sunday (May 16).
At the same time, he also urged for the vaccine registration to be intensified to allow for 80 percent of the community to be vaccinated.
Meanwhile, the assemblyman also reminded the community to observe the Covid-19 SOPs during the current Hari Raya Aidilfitri and upcoming Gawai Dayak.
“Continue to abide by the CMCO SOPs which has been enforced previously with bans on inter-district and -division travel.
“Also, do not hold social gatherings such as weddings, conferences, engagement ceremonies, tahlil prayers, birthday celebrations, reunions and retreats,” he said.
He stressed that community cooperation is important in ensuring that the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic can be curbed.
