Rimbunan Hijau Group CEO dies at 59

SIBU: Datuk Seri Tiong Chiong Hoo, chief executive officer of Rimbunan Hijau Group has passed away at the age of 59 today.

Chiong Hoo’s death was confirmed by Sibu police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit who said the former died at 12.23pm.

“He was found unconscious at 10am in his office by a cleaner who then informed his personal assistant,” he said.

Stanley said an ambulance came and took him to a private medical specialist centre, where his death was confirmed.

“The body was later brought back to his residence at Mile 17, Jalan Sibu-Bintulu,” he added.

Chiong Hoo was the second son of Tan Sri Tiong Hiew King, the majority shareholder at the Rimbunan Hijau Group of Companies.

At the time of his death, he was also executive chairman of Jaya Tiasa Holdings Bhd.

He held two Bachelor’s degrees, in law and economics, from Monash University in Australia.
