SERIAN: The appointment of Serian MP Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem as the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to East Asia is a boost for Serian in many ways.

According to Riot, his responsibilities included bringing in investors from Japan, South Korea and Taiwan into the country.

As a Sarawakian, Riot said it was also his responsibility to ensure that Sarawak, and ultimately Serian, not to be left out.

“As a person who is from Serian, I have a lot to do for Serian as well.

“My duty includes bringing in investors from the three countries to Malaysia. This is a big responsibility.

“However, I believe that with my previous experience as Deputy Foreign Minister for four years and as Minister of Human Resources for five years, I am confident that I can deliver,” he said after officiating at the unveiling of Jalan Chung Hwa here yesterday.

Riot also stated that he had previously visited government officials from the said countries whereby his relationship with them remains strong to this day.
