Riverside improvement expected to attact more tourists

Date:

KUCHING: Ongoing improvement work along a stretch of Sungai Iran near Daro will make its landscape more attractive.

Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad said the physical improvement will complement the breath-taking view of Muara Lassa.

He said several other infrastructure projects will be implemented in the area to beautify the scenery and turn it into a tourist attraction.

“Fishermen can utilise the jetty in the area (Sungai Iran) when they bring in their catch or prepare to go out to sea.

“Hopefully, when this project is completed, it will further develop the economy of the people of this area,” he said during a recent visit to monitor the work along Sungai Iran near Kampung Bandong here.

Safiee said the area was initially a people’s project announced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg under a previous programme.

“The straightening of Sungai Iran, which has been completed, only requires additional costs and it helps to brighten up this area.

“Once the project is completed, it will enable the people to admire the scenery and the sunset at Muara Lassa,” he said.
