KUCHING: A total of RM1.5 million has been collected thus far by the Sarawak Traffic Police from paid traffic summons as of Friday.
This amount was the collection after summonses were given 50 percent reduction in conjunction with 214th Police Day Celebration.
Its chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu stated that from the reduction launching date, it had received overwhelming responses from the public.
“A total of 13,304 summonses were paid from Apr 5 to Apr 9 via walk-in to our Summons Counter and via MyBayar Saman Portal.
“Through cash payment, we received a total of RM 1,410,580 whereas online transactions we received RM111,080 in total,” he said.
He added that the standard operating procedures (SOPs) were fully adhered to by the walk-in customers who came to pay at the Summons Counter.
