MIRI: The state government yesterday presented RM1 million to Pei Min Middle School to help fund its new building which is still under construction.

The school’s building, which costs RM15 million, is expected to be completed sometime in August 2020. However, the school’s construction fund is short of RM6 million.

The building is 70 per cent completed.

The cheque was presented by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg at a leading hotel here.

Present to receive the cheque was the school’s chairman of the building administration construction committee Datuk Hii King Chiong.

Prior to the 14th General Election, the chief minister had also donated RM1.5 million to help fund the construction of the building.

Also present were Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian; Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin; Welfare, Community Well-being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Assistant Minister Rosey Yunus; Education, Science and Technological Research Assistant Minister Dr Annuar Rapa’ee; Tourism, Arts and Culture Assistant Minister Datuk Sebastian Ting; Transport Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Jerip Susil; Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat and Miri City Mayor Adam Yii.
