KUCHING: Over RM1 million worth of projects have been allocated for the development of Kampung (Kpg) Quop this year. The projects include the implementation of roads, drainage, culverts, street lighting and access roads.

Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman and Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang said these development funds came from Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang, Stakan assemblyman Datuk Amar Mohammad Ali Mahmud and also himself.

“Kpg Quop is very fortunate to receive development allocations from Rubiah, Mohammad Ali, and myself,” he said after attending a meeting on Kpg Quop projects at the Kpg Quop multipurpose hall today.

He also inspected a road upgrading project while he was there.

During the meeting, Kpg Quop Ketua Kaum Bonita Andrew said that among the allocations this year were RM200,000 to upgrade the Kpg Quop multipurpose hall, RM150,000 to upgrade the Kpg Quop football field and RM50,000 to upgrade drainage around the hall — which were allocated by Rubiah.

She said Mohammad Ali had allocated RM250,000 to upgrade the access roads in Kpg Quop. She added that last year, Rubiah and Mohammad Ali had each allocated RM100,000 to upgrade Jalan Kimura.

Lo said he had also allocated funds for the development of access roads and street lighting.
“Since there are a lot of intellectual, knowledgeable and capable people in Kampung Quop, I would like to advise everyone here to work together for the benefit of the village.

“In order for Kampung Quop to prosper, we must work together along with MPP, which implements projects allocated by assemblymen and MPs. We at MPP will continue to do our best to implement these projects,” he said.

He said that development for Kpg Quop would continue as long as Sarawak had the funds.
“Under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, there are so many initiatives, opportunities, investment opportunities and ways in which the state is going to bring in funds,” he said.

Lo said that in the years to come when Sarawak has even more funds, more could be spent on developing Kpg Quop.

He said the village had several historical sites and potential tourism monuments, emphasising that the village’s identity and rich history must be preserved.

Lo also commended Bonita for her hard work, encouraging all other village heads to emulate her.
Meanwhile, Bonita thanked the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state government, the chief minister, Rubiah and Mohammad Ali for their generosity in providing development allocations for Kpg Quop.
