SARIKEI: Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii handed over a cheque for RM100,000 to SMK Tinggi Sarikei today (May 13).

The Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) reported that the cheque was approved by the Sarawak Chinese Schools Unit.

This is a special unit headed by Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian to coordinate and manage financial assistance allocated by the Sarawak government for Chinese schools in the state.

“Through this unit, we can provide financial assistance consistently every year,” said Huang.

“The allocation needs to be managed properly through a special body that coordinates the development of Chinese schools in the state,” he added.

Huang also expressed his appreciation to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg for providing educational facilities to the people of Sarawak.
