KUCHING: A sum of RM100,000 has been allocated to repair the hall of SK Major General Datu Ibrahim.

Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin said this as he requested officers from the Public Works Department (JKR) to gather input and suggestions from the representatives of the school and to speed up the preparation of the scope of works and bill of quantities of the repairs so that the students and teachers will be able to use the school hall for their assemblies and extra curricular activities.

“The Rural Transformation Project (RTP) funding was allocated by myself after the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the school requested me for assistance as the ceiling of the roof of the school hall is leaking and the dilapidated ceiling is in danger of falling down and the teachers and over 650 students have been deprived of usage of the school hall for over two years now,” he said in a statement.

Yap also visited Tabika Kemas 11 RAMD Kem Semenggok to monitor the installation of two units of air-conditioner costing RM3,000 that he had contributed for two pre-school classes.

“The Kemas Nursery at Kem Semenggok is operating two sessions of classes in the morning and afternoon for over 65 children and the air-conditioners are urgently required by the children attending the afternoon session.”

Yap will continue to assist all schools in his constituency and systematically use his RTP funding based on urgency and priority to ensure their equipment and facilities are satisfactory for an environment that is conducive for learning and academic excellence.
