KUCHING: A charitable dinner at Ting Noodle House here on Saturday night raised RM10,000 for the Lions Club of Kuching North to conduct cornea and cataract operations for the needy.

Lion Dr Chan Tiang Ho said, “That is good for six corneal transplants or 20 cataract operations.

“Lions Club of Kuching North organises one to two corneal transplants each month at the Sarawak General Hospital.

“Last month, there were two cases. Almost, all are needy cases; there were bad eye infections and delay in treatment leading to cornea damage or perforation.”

Last Saturday’s charity dinner was served by Lion Timothy Ting and Dr Kho Boon Chong for members of the Lions Club of Kuching North.

Last month, the club organised ‘Walk with the Blind 2’ to get members of the public to fully understand what it felt like to be blind.

The event held on Nov 3 helped to raise funds for the club’s signature Sight First Programme that started 29 years ago.
