KUCHING: A total of RM128,000 in minor rural project (MRP) and Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) grants were distributed in Bekenu constituency on Tuesday.
Assistant Minister of Women, Family and Child Development and Bekenu assemblywoman Datuk Rosey Yunus handed over seven MRP cheques to the local longhouse chiefs.
She also presented a cheque from Unifor for St John Chapel Saeh Putih, Niah renovation project during a simple ceremony at Bekenu state constituency service centre.
This brief ceremony was held in compliance with the pandemic standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MoH).
Longhouse head Nelson Ningkan who received the cheque on behalf of St John Chapel Saeh Putih, Niah thanked the state government for the allocation.
“I am grateful to have received this cheque for the chapel and I hope that after this, the project will run smoothly,” he said.
Meanwhile, longhouse head Untol Ibit from Bukit Pasir Sungai Saeh Merah thanked Rosey for the MRP allocation meant for the local Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK).
“Thank you for the allocation which will be used as best as possible for the needs of the JKKK,” he said.
