RM12mil allocated for ALAF

KUCHING: The State government has allocated RM12 million for the Additional or Late Applicant Funds (ALAF) to cater for the electricity supply throughout the state.

This was said by Assistant Minister of Rural Electricity, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi during a press conference to introduce the ALAF programme at State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Building in Petra Jaya yesterday.

The programme which started early this year is part of the initiative to achieve the full coverage of electricity supply throughout the State by 2025 or earlier.

“The programme focus is for rural areas where there are electricity supplies completed under Rural Electrification Scheme (RES).

“It is also for applicants where houses are not completed yet or when new houses are constructed after the supply is provided,

“The supply through ALAF is generally for Light Tension (LT), supply lines and service lines to the houses.

“The applications must be made through their Village JKK and community leaders who will the forward these applications to their respective district offices to be processed and submitted to my Ministry,” Rahman said.

He also said the under the Rural Electrification Masterplan, RM80 million has been requested from the State government to meet the current applications of about 4,000 households from all over Sarawak.

Also present are Sesco Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Lau Kim Swee and Ministry of Utilities’ Director of Electricity Supply Syed Mohamad Fauzi Shahab.
