TEBEDU: A total of RM13 million has been allocated for the implementation of the agricultural road upgrade and construction of a concrete bridge project in Kampung Mawang Tahup.

Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada said that the seven-kilometre agricultural road upgrade project cost RM11 million using funds under the Greater Kuching Development Coordination Agency (GKCDA), while RM2 million was allocated under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) to build a concrete bridge in the village.

He made these remarks during his visit to Kampung Mawang Tahup recently.

During the same visit, he also inspected the construction site of a new church in the village, for which funds were allocated through the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) to replace the old church which is deemed unsafe.

In another development, he also handed over two upgrading projects in Kampung Kujang Mawang which include upgrading the Kampung Kujang Mawang village hall and upgrading the road to the village cemetery totalling RM100,000.

For the village hall upgrade, Dr Sinang said the implementation period is two months while the road upgrading project takes about six weeks.

He also announced an allocation of RM3.9 million for the construction of an agricultural road from Kampung Kujang Mawang to Kampung Sain and surrounding villages which is expected to commence in 2024.

He hoped that through projects under GKCDA, residents could cultivate their land with private commercial crops or engage in partnerships with external companies.

Following this, he urged the residents of the area who have not document their Native Customary Rights (NCR) land to take immediate action to ensure the legitimacy of their land ownership and to prevent disputes in the future.
