LUNDU: Tanjong Datu assemblywoman Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu had approved a total of RM15 million for the people of Kampung Sg Rayu Melayu yesterday.

The RM15 million was for the repair of Surau Darul Ibadah to make it more comfortable for worshippers.

She hoped that with the allocation, those given the responsibility to manage the project would take their responsibilities seriously.

“In addition, the surau can also be used as a place to hold weddings, and to host important events such as Tahlil, Maulidur Rasul and Awal Muharam celebrations,” she said.

She said this when attending a Tahlil ceremony in memory of the late Abdul Halim Abdullah and his wife Rosemary Sadan who were killed in an accident last Aug 9. The couple left behind seven children.

Jamilah presented personal donations and contributions from the Lundu Islamic Welfare Trust Board (LAKIL) to the family.

Also present were special tasks officer to the chief minister, Helmi Hazemi; Lundu District Council secretary Norashikin Brahim; and Tanjong Datu Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth Movement chief Azizul Annuar Adenan Satem.
