RM1K fine each for MCO violators

DALAT: Residents in Kampung Sungai Ud found to be sneaking out of targeted movement control order (MCO) area by boat through Batang Oya river, will be slapped with a RM1,000 fine each.

Recently, it was made to understand that there were several residents making the effort to sneak out by boat.

Responding to this, Dalat police chief DSP Saga Chunggat assured that his men will not compromise if any individual tried to leave the affected area without official permission.

“Final warnings will be given to residents who are stubborn and do not comply with the MCO rules. If they are still found violating the rules, they will be compounded with a RM1,000 fine each.

“Hence, we will continue to enhance patrols around Kampung Sungai Ud and Batang Oya to detect any MCO violators through the river,” he said.

These routes will be monitored daily and residents are urged to cooperate with security forces entrusted with maintaining the village’s well-being and security.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee’s (SDMC) to put Kampung Sungai Ud in Dalat under MCO, was in view of the surge of Covid-19 positive cases recorded in the past two weeks.
