MIRI: A popular local park, Taman Bulatan, located off the corner of the Pujut Roundabout at Boulevard Commercial centre here, is about to undergo a major renovation to the tune of RM1million.

According to Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Sebastian Ting, who is also Piasau Assemblyman, the upgrading works would include improving the park’s walkways, installing lighting and upgrading children’s play facilities in the park.

“The RM1million allocation has been approved and hopefully, we’ll start the upgrading work as soon as possible,” he said.

Ting disclosed this on Thursday morning during a brief visit to the park.

The upgrading project is fully funded by the state government via Ting’s Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project.

He was accompanied by Miri Mayor Adam Yii.

No date has been announced for the start of the upgrading work but Ting assured that it would kick off this year.

Meanwhile, Yii, when met later, was happy with the allocation to upgrade the park.
