KUCHING: An aggressive son ended up RM2,500 poorer after he was fined by the Magistrate’s Court here today for threatening to injure his father.
Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi passed the sentence on Mohammad Nur Fizdris Ideris, 33, after he pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 506 of the Penal Code.
The section provides for a jail term of up to seven years or a fine or both.
The court heard that the accused had threatened to injure his father at their residence in Kampung Stapok, Batu Kawa here, around 12 noon on May 10.
At the time of the incident, the complainant – the father of the accused – was in the backyard when he heard sounds of broken glass and the same time his son raising a ruckus.
The complainant entered the house to see the accused aimlessly pacing and raving.
As soon as the accused saw his dad enter the house, the accused acted aggressively by slamming a knife on the table and threatened the complainant, “You do not come near, or I will hurt you.”
Worried about the safety of other family members, the elderly man lodged a police report which led to the arrest of the accused on May 11.
The accused was said to have often acted aggressively without any reason.
Inspector Nur Syafiqa Nyaie Ilin prosecuted.
