KUCHING: A total of RM2 million was approved and channelled to Tanjong Datu Agriculture Committee by the Sarawak government.
The allocation was to help increase the knowledge and income of the people through agricultural activities, said Tanjong Datu assemblywoman Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu.
“Which is why for today’s course, I had asked for those who are really interested in planting crops and helping them to improve their standard of living through agriculture.
“It is not a course to be taken lightly as it requires a large cost to be implemented,” she added.
Jamilah was speaking at a Community Extension Outreach Programme (CEOP) organised by the Lundu District Agriculture Department and held at the Mahligai Gading Lundu multipurpose hall yesterday.
“The participants should make the best of this opportunity, especially now agriculture has undergone transformation with the use of many new methods such as fertigation and hydroponics to produce maximum yields,” she added.
Earlier, she visited a participant’s fertigation agriculture project in Kampung Sileng Dayak Lundu.
Also present were special tasks officer to the chief minister Helmi Hazemi, Lundu district officer Gustian Durani, and Kuching Division agriculture officer Chong Mui Sia.
