BINTULU: Thanks to the RM2 million grant from the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor), the Christian cemetery compound in Kuala Setiam here can now be upgraded.

The Bintulu MP Service Centre had earlier applied for funding from the Sarawak government for upgrading works.

Following the successful application, Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing today (July 20) handed over a cheque for RM2 million to the Association of Churches Sarawak, Bintulu branch.

During a simple hand-over ceremony, Tiong said the funds will be used by the association to upgrade the Christian cemetery compound.

“I hope the beneficiaries will make full use of the grant for road upgrades and expansion of the parking space to take in the increasing traffic volume into account,” he said.

He urged the Association of Churches to continue to help encourage its members, aged above 18, to get vaccinated so that they would be able to accelerate the rate of vaccination,” he said.
