MUKAH: The Budget 2024 brings a sigh of relief for civil servants, offering a one-time incentive of RM2,000.

Congress of Union of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (CUEPACS) president Datuk Adnan Mat thanked the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for this gesture.

“We had asked for this because the new salary system for civil servants is still under review. It will be ready in 2024 and start in 2025.

“This means our salaries will take a while to increase. Getting this incentive in February 2024 is timely, as it matches with the school opening and the start of Ramadan.

“However, we hope the government can speed up the new salary system. This incentive is a short-term help, not a permanent raise,” he told reporters after the Randau session with CUEPACS, at the Kingwood Hotel here yesterday.

RECORD MEMORIES… Adnan recorded memories with others after the ceremony.

Regarding the Randau Council, it was organised by the Sarawak Medical Services Union (SMSU) in conjunction with the opening of the SMSU Mukah branch as the 12th branch.
