KUCHING: Two hundred schoolchildren from asnaf family groups received generous contributions from National Entrepreneur Group Economic Fund (Tekun Nasional).

School supplies worth RM100 were given to all selected students from four schools — Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Telaga Air, SK Temenggong, SK Sibu Laut, and SK Kampung Sungai Aur.

The contributions were handed over during the Tekun Nasional corporate social responsibility (CSR) ‘Back to School’ event at SK Telaga Air, yesterday.

Tekun Nasional deputy chairwoman Najwah Halimah Ab Alim stated that the event was held in collaboration with Beladin ‘Masyarakat Prihatin’ Welfare Association, a non-governmental organisation (NGO).

“We are glad to see Beladin NGO to collaborating with Tekun Nasional to provide aid for underprivileged schoolchildren.

“This programme aims to ease the financial burdens of parents, especially those in the B40 group, for the upcoming 2020 school session,” said Najwah.

She also said the CSR programme was an opportunity for Tekun Nasional to give back to the community as well as to provide moral support and motivation to schoolchildren so that they would maintain their academic achievements and interest to go to school.
