RM205,000 to enhance Ramadan activities for 41 mosques, surau in Sibu

SIBU: A total of 41 mosques and surau in Sibu Division have received a collective donation of RM205,000 to support their activities throughout the fasting month of Ramadan.

Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee said that each mosque and surau was granted RM5,000, with RM1,000 contributed by LAKIS (Sibu Welfare Trust) and RM4,000 from the Nangka Service Centre.

“This annual contribution aims to empower mosques and surau in conducting various activities during the month of Ramadan,” he said during the donation handover ceremony at the Al-Qadim Mosque on Monday (March 11).

Dr Annuar highlighted that the Islamic Celebration Permanent Committee of Sibu also received generous donations.

The Nangka assemblyman extended an invitation to the representatives of the 41 mosques and surau to participate in the ‘Al-Quran Hour’ programme scheduled for March 29 at the Lakis Hall.

“The Quran reading session will be conducted in two sessions, from 9am to 12pm and from 2pm to 6pm. We anticipate approximately 500 participants.”

Additionally, Dr Annuar invited the public to join the Sungkei Perdana Programme on March 23 at Tun Tuanku Bujang Square Phase I.
