RM24,000 MRP grants for longhouses

SIMANGGANG: Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants worth RM24,000 were presented to six village development and security committees (JKKKs) and Women bureaus here on Sunday (Feb 21).

The recipients were the JKKK and Women Bureau of Rumah Mara, Gran C; Rumah John Elie, Kampung Sabu; and Rumah James Batang, Bakong Ulu, Tanjong Bijat, respectively.

Each JKKK received RM5,000 while the women bureaus received RM3,000 each.

Presenting the grants was Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, who is also the Community Wellbeing Assistant Minister, in a simple ceremony at Simanggang Constituency Service Centre here.

Meanwhile, five units of fire extinguishers were handed over to JKKK Skirau Ai represented by its village head, Tuai Rumah Inchang.

“Apart from delivering my promise in presenting MRP allocations, I also wish to take this opportunity to urge village chiefs to continue supporting the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state government.

“The GPS government has been introducing a lot of assistance to the people, especially amidst Covid-19 situation in order to ease the people’s burden.

“The strength of the government is shown on its action in developing the state for the sovereignty and wellbeing of the people,” he said.

Also present at the ceremony were Penghulu Mingging Sigan, Cr Waterkiller James Junit, Kapitan Ling Siew Hung, Tuai Rumah Lina Busang and Tuai Rumah Rose Emma Stanley Gate.
