KUCHING: An allocation of RM240,000 in funds were distributed to 23 schools in the Song district councils.
The funds were received by the headmaster’s of 17, primary schools, three secondary schools.
Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said of the 23, 17 are primary schools, three secondary schools and another three are headmaster councils.
“I hope this allocation can also increase the motivation of all parties, including parents, teachers and children to continue to strive and achieve excellence in education.
He also expressed hope that allocations given would benefit the school and Parent Teacher Association (PTA) to ensure the academic development of children can be improved.
“The cooperation between the school and PTA needs to be strengthened for the benefit of our children,” the Kapit MP said.
He said this when officiating at the grant presentation ceremony to the recipients in Song recently.
At the same time, Nanta also expressed concern over internet access in rural areas during the teaching and learning at home (PdPR) period.
Nanta emphasised that the matter will be studied to ensure that the learning process of children in rural areas will not be left behind.
Meanwhile, looking into the welfare of flood victims who were affected during the high tide a few months ago, Nanta said that he will visit Hulu Sungai Katibas to review the progress of the Sarawak government’s assistance project.
He announced that the state government allocated RM1 million to cover the cost of repairing the affected longhouses as well as providing assistance in stages to the residents.
“We are truly grateful for the support given by the state government,” he added.
